Ern riesenhafter Ichmied am Amboß stand 
und hob den Hammer mit berußter hand. 
Jum ersten schlug er nieder, daß es scholl 
ringsum im finstern Forst geheimnisvoll, 
und rief: „Mach, erster Streich, den Teufel fest, 
daß ihn die Hölle nicht entfahren läßt!“ 
Den Dammer er zum andern Male hob, 
den Amboß schlug er, daß es Funken stob, 
und schrie: „Triff du den Reichsfeind, zweiter Schlag, 
daß ihn der Fuß nicht fürder tragen magl“ 
Den Hammer hob er noch zum drittenmal, 
der niederfuhr wie blanker Wetterstrahl, 
und lachte: „Schmeede, dritter, du die Treu 
und unfre alte Kaiserkrone neu!“
