PACIE  DE  LA  SOCITE  DES  NATIONS.

Considérant  que,  pour  développer  la  coopéra-(ion
  entre  les  nations  et  pour  leur  garantir  la
paix  et  la  süreté,  il  importe

d'accepter  certaines  obligations  de  ne  pas
recourir  à  la  guerre,

Tentretenir  au  grand  jour  des  relations  internationales
  fondées  sur  la  justice  et
Phonneur,

d’observer  rigoureusement  les  prescriptions
du  droit  international,  reconnues  désormais
  comme  regle  de  conduite  eflectivodes
  Gouvernements,

de  faire  régner  la  justice  et  de  respecter
scrupuleusement  toutes  les  obligations
des  Traités  dans  les  rapports  mutuels  des
Peuples  organisés,

Adoptent  le  présent  Pacte  qui  institue  la  Société
  des  Nations.

Article  1.

Sont  Membres  originaires  de  la  Socistée  dos
Nations,  ceux  des  Signataires  dont  les  noms  figuront
  dans  l'  Annexe  au  présent  Pacte,  ainsi  quo  les
Etats,  éegalement  nommés  dans  I’Annere,  qui  auront
  accédé  au  présent  Pacte  sans  aucune  réserte

Dar  une  déclaration  déposée  au  Secrétariat  dans
les  deux  mois  de  Pentrée  en  vigueur  du  Pacte  et

dont  notification  sera  faite  aux  autres  Membres
do  la  Société.

Tout  Etat,  Dominion  ou  Colonie  qui  se  gouverne
  librement  et  qui  west  pas  désigné  dans  I’Annezxe,
  peut  devenir  Membre  de  la  Société  si  son  ad-PARTI.

In  order  to  promote  international  co-operation
  and  to  achieve  international  peace  and
security

by  the  acceptance  of  obligations  not  to
resort  to  war,

by  the  prescription  of  open,  just  and
honourable  relations  between  nations,

by  the  firm  establishment  of  the  understandings
  of  international  law  as  tho
zactual  rule  of  conduct  among  Governments,
  and  ·

by  the  maintenance  of  justice  and  a  serupulous
  respect  for  all  treaty  obligations  in
the  dealings  of  organised  peoples  with
ons  another,

"  agree  to  this  Covenant  of  the  League  of  Nations.

Arkiele  1.

The  original  Members  of  the  League  of
Nations  shall  be  those  of  the  Signatories  which
are  named  in  the  Annex  to  this  Covenant  and
also  such  of  those  other  States  named  in  the
Annex  as  shall  accede  without  reservation  to  this
Covenant.,  Such  accession  shall  be  effected  by
a  Declaration  deposited  with  the  Secretariat
within  two  months  of  the  coming  into  force  of
the  Covenant.  Notico  thereof  shall  be  sent  to
all  other  Members  of  the  League.

Any  fully  self-governing  State,  Dominion  or
Colony  not  named  in  the  Annex  moy  become  a
Member  of  the  League  if  its  admission  is  agreed.
