effectifs  militaires,  navals  ou  aérions  par  lesquels
les  Membres  de  la  Société  contribueront  respectivement
  aux  forces  armées  destinéeg  à  faire  respecter
les  engagements  de  la  Socisté.

Les  Membres  de  la  Société  conviennent,  en
outre,  de  se  preter  l'un  à  ’autre  un  mutuel  appui
dans  T’application  des  mesures  conomiques  et
financières  à  prendre  en  vertu  du  présent  articlo
pour  réduire  au  minimum  les  pertes  et  les  incon-Vénients
  qui  peuvent  en  résulter.  IIs  se  prstent
6galement  un  mutuel  appui  pour  résister  à  toute
mesure  spéciale  dirigée  contre  l'un  d'’eux  par
I’Etat,  en  rupture  de  pacte.  IIs  prennent  les  dispositions
  nécessaixes  pour  faciliter  le  passage  à
travers  leur  territoire  des  forces  de  tout  Membre
de  la  Société  qui  participe  à  une  action  communo
pour  faire  respecter  les  engagements  do  la  Société.


Peut  ötre  exclu  de  la  Société  tout  Membre  dui
g'est  rendu  coupable  de  la  violation  d'un  des  engagements
  résultant  du  Pacte.  L’exclusion  est
Prononcse  par  le  vote  de  tous  les  autres  Membres
de  la  Socisté  représentés  au  Conseil.

Artiele  17.

En  cas  de  différend  entre  deux  Etats,  dont  un
seulement  est  Membre  de  la  Socisté  ou  dont  aucun
  n'en  fait  partie,  I’Etat  ou  les  Etats  strangers
à  la  Société  sont  invités  à  se  soumettre  aux  obligations
  qui  s'imposent  à  ses  Membres  aux  fins  de
roglement  du  différend,  aux  conditions  estimées
justes  par  le  Conseil.  Si  cette  invitation  est  acceptée,
  les  dispositions  des  articles  12  à  16  F’appliquent
  sous  réserve  des  modifications  jugées  né-Cessaires
  par  le  Conseil.

Des  Penvoi  de  cette  invitation,  1e  Conseil  ouvre
une  enquste  sur  les  circonstances  du  différend  et
propose  telle  mesure  qui  lui  paraft  la  meilleure  et
la  plus  efficace  dans  le  cas  particulier.

concerned  what  effective  military,  naval  or  air
force  the  Members  of  the  League  ehall  severally
contribute  to  the  armed  forces  to  be  used  to
protect  the  covenants  of  the  League.

The  Members  of  the  League  agree,  further,
tbat  they  will  mutually  support  one  another  in
the  financial  and  economic  measures  which  are
taken  under  this  article,  in  order  to  minimise  the
loss  and  inconvenience  resulting  from  the  above
measures,  and  that  they  will  mutually  support
one  another  in  resisting  any  special  measures
aimed  at  Gre  of  their  number  by  the  covenantbreaking
  State,  and  that  they  will  take  the
necessary  steps  to  afford  passage  through  their
territory  to  the  ferces  of  any  of  the  Members  otthe
  League  which  are  co-  operating  to  protect  the
covenants  of  the  League.

Any  Member  of  the  League  which  has
violated  any  covenant  of  the  League  may  be
declared  to  be  no  longer  a  Member  of  the  League
by  a  vote  of  the  Council  concurred  in  by  the
Representatives  of  all  the  other  Members  of  the
League  represented  thereon.

rticleé  17.

In  the  event  of  a  dispute  between  a  Nember
of  tbe  League  and  a  State  which  is  not  a  Member
of  the  League,  or  between  States  not  Members
of  the  League,  the  State  or  States  not  Members
of  the  League  shall  be  invited  to  accopt
the  obligations  of  membership  in  the  League
for  the  purposes  of  such  dispute,  upon  such
conditions  as  the  Council’may  deem  just.  II  such
invitation  is  accepted,  the  provisions  of  Articles
12  to  16  inclusive  shall  be  applied  with  such
modifications  as  may  be  deemed  necessary  by  the
Couneil.

Upon  such  invitation  being  given  the  Couneil
shall  immediately  institute  an  inquiry  into  tbe
circumstances  of  the  dispute  and  recommend
such  action  as  may  seem  best  and  most  effectual
in  the  circumstances.
