les  ressortissants  allemands  d#gés  de  plus  de  18
ans  et  Stablis  sur  ces  territoires  auront  la  faculté
Topter  pour  la  nationalité  allemande.

T’'option  du  mari  entralnera  celle  de  la  femme
et  PToption  des  parents  entralnera  celle  de  leurs
enfants  ägés  de  moins  de  18  ans.

Les  personnes  ayant  exercé  le  droit  d'option
ci-dessus  prévu  devront,  dans  les  douze  mois  dui
suivront,  transporter  leur  domicile  en  Allemagne.

Elles  seront  libres  de  conserver  les  biens.
immobiliers  qu’elles  possèdent  sur  les  territoires
acquis  par  la  Belgique.  Elles  pourront  emporter
leurs  bien  meubles  de  toute  nature.  II  ne  leur
sera  imposé,  de  ce  chef,  aucun  droit  soit  de  sortie,
soit  d’entrée.

Arktele  38.

Le  Gouvernement  allemand  remettra,  sans
déelai,  au  Gouvernement  belge  les  archives,
registres,  plans,  titres,  et  doecuments  de  toute
nature  concernant  les  administrations  civile,
militaire,  financièe,  iudiciaire  ou  autres  du  territoire
  transféré  sous  la  souveraineté  de  la
Belgique.

Le  Gouvernement  allemand  restituere  de
meme  au  Gouvernement  belge  les  archives  ot
documents  de  toute  nature  enlevés  au  cours  de
la  guerre  par  les  autorités  allemandes  dans  les
administrations  publiques  belges,  et  notamment
au  Ministeère  des  Affaires  Etrangèeres  à  Bruxelles.

Article  39.

La  proportion  et  la  nature  des  charges  financières
  de  PAllemagne  et  de  la  Prusse  qdue  la
Belgique  aura  à  supporter,  à  raison  des  territoires
  qui  lui  sont  cédés,  seront  fixées  conformément
  aux  articles  254  et  256  de  la  Partie  IK
(Clauses  financières)  du  présent  Traité.

SECTION  II.
LUXEMBOURG.

Article  40.
L’Allemagne  rononce,  en  ce  dui  concerne  lo
Grand-Duché  de  Luxembourg,  au  bénéfice  de

„  German  nationals  over  18  years  of  age  hablrually

resident  in  those  territories  will  be  entitled  to
opt  for  German  nationelity.
Option  by  a  husband  will  cover  his  wife,  and

%  option  by  parents  will  cover  their  children  under

18  years  of  age.

Persons  who  have  exercised  the  above  right
to  opt  must  within  the  ensuing  twelve  months
transfer  their  place  of  residence  to  Germany.

They  will  be  entitled  to  retain  their  immo
vable  property  in  the  territories  acquired  by
Belgium.  They  may  carry  with  them  their  mov
able  property  of  every  description.  No  export
or  import  duties  may  be  imposed  upon  them  in
connection  with  the  removal  of  such  property.

Arkticke  38.

The  German  Goverrment  will  hand  over
without  delay  to  the  Belgian  Government  the
archives,  registers,  plans,  title  deeds  and  documents
  of  every  kind  concerning  the  civil,  military,
  financial  and  judicial  or  other  administrations
  in  the  territor?y  transferred  to  Belgian
sovereignty.

The  German  Government  will  likewise  restore
  to  the  Belgian  Government  the  archives
and  documents  of  every  kind  carried  off  during
the  war  by  the  German  authorities  from  the  Belgian
  public  administrations,  in  particular  from
the  Ministry  of  Toreign  Affairs  at  Brussels.

Article  39.

The  proportion  and  nature  of  the  financial
liabilities  of  Germany  and  of  Prussia  which  Belgium
  will  have  to  bear  on  account  of  the  territories
  ceded  to  her  shall  be  fixed  in  conformity
with  Article  254  and  256  of  Part  IX  (Financial
Clauses)  of  the  present  Treaty.
