Article  172.

Within  a  period  of  ihrec  months  from  the  eg
ming  into  forco  of  the  prosent  Treatr,  tho  German
Government  will  disclosc  to  the  Governments  ol
the  Principal  Allied  and  Associated  Powers  the
nature  and  mode  of  manufacturc  ol  all  explosives,
toxic  substances  or  other  like  chemical  preparations
  used  by  them  in  the  war  or  prepared  by  them
for  the  purpose  ol  being  so  used.

CHAPTER  III.
RECRUTTG  AND  AILTTARY  TRAININOC.

Article  175.
Universal  compulsory  military  servicc  shall  be
abolished  in  Germany.
The  German  Army  may  only  be  constituted
and  recruited  by  means  of  voluntary  enlistment.

Articke  174.

The  period  of  enlistment  for  non-commissioned
officers  and  prirates  must  be  twelve  consecutire
Fears.

The  number  of  men  discharged  for  any  reason
before  the  cexpiration  of  their  term  of  enlistment
must  not  excced  in  any  Fear  five  per  cent.  of  the
total  cffectives  fiked  by  the  second  sub-paragraph
of  paragraph  1  of  Article  160  of  the  presem
Treaty.

Artiele  775.

The  officers  who  are  retained  in  the  Armx  must
undertake  tho  obligation  to  serve  in  it  up  to  the
age  of  forty-fie  Fears  at  least.

Oflicers  newlr  appointed  must  undertake  to
sortve  on  the  active  list  for  twenty-five  consecutire
Fears  at  least.

Ollicers  who  have  previously  belonged  to  and
sormations  whatever  of  the  Army,  and  who  arc  not
retained  in  the  units  allowed  to  be  maintained.
must  not  take  part  in  any  military  esrcise
whether  theoretical  or  practical,  and  will  not  be
undor  any  military  obligations  whatercr.
