Le  Gouvernement  allemand  devra  mettre  à  la
disposition  des  Gouvernements  des  Principales
Puissances  alliées  et  associées  toutes  les  informations
  bhydrographiques  compleètes,  actuellement  en
sa  possession,  concernant  les  routes  d'acchs  entre
la  Baltique  et  la  mer  du  Nord.

Article  196.

Tous  les  ouvrages  fortifiés,  fortifications  et
places  fortes  maritimes,  autres  due  ceux  mentionnés
  à  la  Section  XIII  (Hôligoland)  de  la
Partie  III  (Clauses  politiques  européennes)  et  à
Tarticle  195,  et  qui  sont  situés  soit  à  moins  de
cinquante  kilomeèetres  de  la  cöte  allemande,  soit
dans  les  les  allemandes  du  littoral,  sont  considérés

ront  rester  dans  leur  état  actuel.

Aucune  novuvelle  fortification  ne  devra  atre
construite  dans  cette  zone.  L'armement  de  ces
rouvrages  ne  devra  jamais  dépasser,  en  nombre  et
calibres  des  canons,  Tarmement  existant  à  la  date
de  la  mise  en  vigueur  du  présent  Traité.  Le  Gouvernement
  allemand  en  fera  connaftre  immédiatement
  la  composition  à  tous  les  Gouvernements
européens.

Après  I’expiration  d'un  délai  de  deux  mois  à
dater  de  la  mise  en  vigueur  du  présent  Treité,
T’approvisionnement  do  ces  pièces  sera  uniformément
  ramené  et  maintenu  à  un  chiffre  maximum
de  quinze  cents  coups  par  pièce  pour  les  calibres.
de  10,5  et  plus  petits,  et  cind  cents  coups  par
pides  pour  les  calibres  supérieurs.

Article  197.
Pendeant  les  trois  mois  qui  suivront  la  mise
en  vigueur  du  présent  Traité,  les  stations  alle-954

  now  existing  in  this  aren  shall  be  demolished
  and  the  gung  removed  under  the  supervision
  of  the  Allied  Governments  and  in  poriods
to  be  fired  by  them.

The  German  Government  shall  place  at  tho
disposal  of  the  Governments  of  the  Prinecipal
Allied  and  Associated  Powers  all  hydrographical
information  now  in  its  possession  concerning  tho
channels  and  adjoining  waters  between  the  Baltic
and  the  North  Sea.

Arkticle  196.

All  fortified  works  and  fortifications,  other
than  those  mentioned  in  Section  XIII  (Heligoland)
of  Part  III  (Political  Clauses  for  Europe)  and
in  Article  195,  now  established  within  flfty
kilometres  of  the  German  coast  or  on  German
  islands  off  that  coast  shall  be  considered  as
#of  a  defensive  nature  and  may  remain  in  their
existing  condition.

No  new  fortifications  shall  be  constructed
within  these  limits.  The  armament  of  these  defences
  shall  not  exceed,  as  regards  the  number  and
calibre  of  guns,  those  in  position  at  the  date  of
the  coming  into  force  of  the  present  Treaty.  The
German  Government  shall  Ccommunicate  forthwith
particulars  thereof  to  all  the  European  Governments.

from  the  coming  into  foree  of  the  present  Treaty
the  stocks  of  ammunition  for  these  guns  shall  be
reduced  to  and  maintained  at  a  maximum  figure
of  fifteen  hundred  rounds  per  piece  for  calibres  of
4  1-inch  and  under,  and  five  hundred  rpunds  per
piece  for  higher  calibres.

Arkiele  197.
During  the  tbree  months  following  the  coming
into  force  of  the  present  Treaty  the  German  high-
