dans  telles  conditions  que  détermineront  les  Gouvernements
  alliés  et  associés,  agissant  suivant  la
Drocédure  prévue  à  la  présente  Partie  du  présent
Traité.

Artiche  234.

La  Commission  des  réparations  devra,  aprèe
le  1e:  mai  1921,  Sstudier,  de  temps  à  autre,  les
resscources  et  les  capacités  de  I’Allemagne,  ot,
après  avoir  donné  aux  représentants  de  ce  pays
Téquitable  facults  de  se  faire  entendre,  elle  aura
tous  pouvoirs  pour  étendre  la  période  et  modifier
les  modalités  des  payements  à  prévoir  en  conformité
  de  I’article  233;  mais  elle  ne  pourra  faire
remise  d'’aucune  somme  sans  Tautorisation  spéciale
des  divers  Gouvernements  représentés  à  la  Commission.


Artiele  235.

Afin  de  permettre  aux  Puissances  alliées  et
asscciées  Tentreprendre  des  maintenant  la  restauration
  de  leur  vie  industriclle  et  économique,  en
attendant  la  fixation  délinitive  du  montant  de
leurs  réclamations,  IAllemagne  payera,  pendant
les  années  1919  et  1920  et  les  quatre  premiers
mois  de  1921,  en  autant  de  versements  et  suivant
telles  modalitées  (en  or,  en  marchandises,  en
navires,  en  valeurs  ou  autrement)  qdue  la  Commission
  des  réparations  pourra  fixer,  l'ẽéquivalent
de  20,000,000,000  (vingt  milliards)  marks  or  à
valoir  sur  les  créances  ci-dessus;  sur  cette  somme
les  frais  de  Tarmée  d’occupation  après  D’Armistice
du  11  novembre  1918  seront  d'abord  payés,  et
telles  quantités  de  produits  alimentaires  et  de
matidères  premieères,  qui  pourront  stre  jugées,  par
les  Gouvernements  des  Principales  Puissances
ealliées  et  associées,  nécessaires  pour  permettre  à
TAllemagne  de  faire  face  à  son  obligation  de
réparer,  pourront  aussi,  avec  I’approbation  desdits
Gouvernements,  stre  payées  par  imputation  sur
ladite  somme.  Le  solde  viendra  en  déduction  des
sommes  dues  par  I'Allemagne  à  titre  de  réparations.
  L'Allemagne  remettra  en  outre  les  bons
Prescrits  au  paragraphe  12.  (c)  de  I’Annezxe  II
ci-ointe.

Allied  and  Associated  Governments,  acting  in
accordance  with  the  procedure  laid  down  in  this
Part  of  the  present  Treaty,  shall  determine.

Article  234.

The  Reparation  Commission  shall  akter
May  1,  1921,  from  time  to  time,  consider  the
rescurces  and  capacity  of  Germany),  and,  after
giving  her  representatives  a  just  opportunity  to
be  heard,  shall  have  discretion  to  extend  the  date,
and  to  modify  the  form  of  payments,  such  as  aro
to  be  provided  for  in  accordance  with  Article  238;
but  not  to  cancel  any  part,  ercept  with  the
specifie  authority  of  the  several  Governmenis
represented  upon  the  Commission.

Article  235.

In  order  to  enable  the  Allied  and  Asscciated
Powers  to  proceed  at  once  to  the  restoration  ol
their  industrial  and  economic  life,  pending  tie
full  determination  of  their  claims,  Germany  shall
pay  in  such  instalments  and  in  such  manner
(whether  in  gold,  commodities,  ships,  securities
or  otherwise)  as  the  Reparation  Commission
may  fix,  during  1919,  1920  and  the  first  four
months  of  1921,  the  equivalent  of  20,000,000,000
gold  marks.  Out  of  this  sum  the  expenses  of  the
armies  of  occupation  subsequent  to  the  Armistico
of  November  11,  1918,  shall  first  be  met,  and
such  supplies  of  food  and  raw-materials  as  maybe
judged  by  the  Governments  of  the  Principal
Allied  and  Associated  Powers  to  be  essential  io
enable  Germany  to  meet  her  obligations  for
reparation  may  also,  with  the  approval  of  tho
said  Governments,  be  paid  for  out  of  the  above
sum.  The  balance  shall  be  reckoned  towards
liquidation  of  the  amounts  due  for  reparation.
Germany  shall  further  deposit  bonds  as
prescribed  in  paragraph  12  (c)  of  Annex  II
hereto.
