J.  Disposttion“  gendrales.
§  1.

Au  gens  des  articles  299,  300  et  301,  les  personnes
  parties  à  un  contrat  sont  considérées
comme  ennecmies  lorsque  le  commerco  entre  elles
aura  été  interdit  ou  sera  devenn  illégal  en  vertu
des  lois,  décrets  ou  reglements  auxqucle  une  de
ces  parties  était  soumise,  et  ce  à  datcr,  soit  du
iour  où  ce  Ccommerce  a  été  interdit,  soit  du  jour
où  il  est  devenu  illégal  de  quelque  manidre  que  ce
Soit.

§  2.

Sont  exceptees  de  I’annulation  prévue  à  l'arlicke
  299,  et  restent  en  vigueur,  sans  préjudice
des  droits  prévus  à  T’article  297,  paragraphe  5),
do  la  section  IV,  et  sous  réserve  de  T’application
des  lois,  décrets  et  reglements  internes  pris  pendant
  la  guerre  par  les  Ptuissances  alliées  ou  associées,
  ainsi  que  des  clauses  des  contrats:

a)  Les  contrats  ayant  pour  but  le  transfert
de  propriéctés,  de  biens  et  effets  mobiliers  ou  immobiliers,
  lorsque  la  propriété  aura  é6té  transférée
ou  Tobjiet  livré  avant  due  les  parties  ne  scient
devenucs  ennemies;

taken  in  invaded  or  occupied  territories,  if  they
have  not  been  otherwise  compensated.

Article  303.

For  the  purpose  of  Sections  III,  IV,  V  and
VII,  the  expression  (during  the  war'“  means  for
each  Allied  or  Associated  Power  the  periodbetwecn
  the  commencement  of  the  state  of  war
between  that  Power  and  Germany  and  the  coming
into  force  of  the  present  Treaty.

ANNEK.

I.  Gendrafk  Frovisions.

1.

Within  the  meaning  of  Articles  299,  300  and
301,  the  parties  to  a  contract  shall  be  regarded
as  enemies  when  trading  between  them  shall  have
been  prohibited  by  or  otherwise  became  unlawful
under  laws,  orders  or  regulations  to  which  one  of
those  parties  was  subject.  They  shall  be  deemed
to  have  become  enemies  from  the  date  when  such
trading  was  prohibited  or  otherwise  became
unlawful.

2.

The  following  classes  of  contracts  are  excepted
from  dissolution  by  Article  299  and,  without.
projudice  to  the  rights  contained  in  Article
297  (5)  of  Section  IV,  remain  in  force  subject  to
the  application  of  domestic  laws,  orders  or
regulations  made  during  the  war  by  the  Allied
and  Associated  Powers  and  subject  to  the  terms
of  the  contracts:

(a)  Contracts  having  for  their  object  the
transfer  of  estates  or  of  real  or  personal  property)
where  the  property  therein  had  passed  or  tho
object  had  been  delivered  before  the  parties
became  enemies;  "

(5)  Leases  and  agreements  for  leases  of  land
and  houses;
