En  vue  de  rendre  possible  la  préparation  d’une
limitation  générale  des  armements  de  toutes  les
nations,  I’Allemagne  s'engage  à  observer  strictement
  les  clauses  militaires,  navales  et  aériennes
ci-apres  stipulées.

SECTILON  I1.

CLAUSES  MILTTAILRES.

CHAPETRE  PREMIER.

EFFECTITFS  ET  ENCADREMENT  DE  LARRMEE
ALLEMANDE.

Article  159.

Les  forces  militaires  allemandes  seront  démobilisées
  et  réduites  dans  les  conditions  fixées
ci-apres.

Article  160.

1°  A  dater  du  31  mars  1920,  au  plus  tard,  l'armée
  allemande  ne  devra  pas  comprendre  plus  de
sept  divisions  d’infanterie  et  trois  divisions  de
eavalerie.
Dès  ce  moment,  la  totalité  des  effectifs  de  l’armée
des  Etats  qui  constituent  I'’Allemagne,  ne  devra
dépasser  cent  mille  hommes,  officiers  et
dépöts  compris,  et  sera  exclusivement  destinée
au  maintien  de  Pordre  sur  le  territoire  et  à  la
Police  des  frontiéres.

Lieffectif  total  des  officiers,  y  Compris  le  personnel
  des  Etats-Majors,  quelle  du'en  scit  la  composition,
  ne  devra  pas  dépasser  quatre  mille.

2°  Les  Divisions  et  les  Etats-Majors  de  corps
d’armée  seront  composés  en  conformité  du  tableau
no  1  annexé  à  la  présente  Section.

Le  nombre  et  les  effectifs  des  unités  d’infanterie,
  d’artillerie,  du  génie,  des  services  et  troupes
techniques,  prévus  dans  ledit  tableau,  constituent
des  maxima  qui  ne  devront  pas  6tre  dépassés.

Les  unités  ci-apres  désignées  peuvent  avoir  un
dépöt  dui  leur  sera  propre:

RBégiment  d’infanterie;
Régiment  de  cavalerie;
Régiment  'artillerie  de  campagne;
Bataillon  de  pionniers.

In  order  to  render  Fssible  the  imitiation  of  a
general  limitation  of  the  armaments  of  all
nations,  Germany  undertakes  strictly  to  observe
the  military,  naval  and  air  clauses  which  follow.

SECTILON  I.

MIELITARN  CLAUSES

CHAPTER  I.

EFFECTIVES  AND  CáADRES  OF  THE  GERMNMAN
ARMV.

Artiole  159.

The  German  military  forces  shall  be  demobilized
  and  reduced  as  prescribed  hereinafter.

Article  160.

(1.)  By  a  date  which  must  not  be  later  than
March  31,  1920,  the  German  Army  must  not
comprise  more  than  seven  divisions  of  infantry
and  three  divisions  of  cavalry.
aAtter  that  date  the  total  number  of  effectives
in  the  Army  of  the  States  constituting  Germany
must  not  exceed  one  hundred  thousand  men,
including  officers  and  establishments  of  depots.
The  Army  shall  be  devoted  exclusively  to  the
maintenance  of  order  within  the  territory  and  to
the  control  of  the  frontiers.

The  total  effective  strength  of  officers,  including
  the  personnel  of  staffs,  whatever  their
composition,  must  not  exceed  four  thousand.

(2.)  Divisions  and  Army  Corps  headquarters
staffs  shall  be  organised  in  accordance  with  Table
No.  I  annexed  to  this  Section.

The  number  and  strengths  of  the  units  of  infantry,
  artillery,  engineers,  technical  services  and
troops  laid  down  in  the  aforesaid  Table  constitute
maxima  which  must  not  be  exceeded.

The  following  units  may  each  have  their  own
depot:

An  Infantry  regiment:;

A  Cavaly  regiment;

A  regiment  of  Field  Artillery;
A  battalion  of  Pioneers.
