Stranger.

Les  Puissances  allices  et  associées  conviennent,
en  ce  qui  les  concerne,  qu'à  partir  de  la  mise  en
vigueur  du  présent  Traité,  elles  ne  devront  pas
enröler  dans  leurs  armées,  leur  flotte  ou  leurs  forces
aéronautiques,  ni  y  attacher  aucun  national  allemand
  en  vue  d’aider  à  Pentrafnement  militaire,
ou,  en  général,  d’employer  un  national  allemand.
Comme  instructeur  militaire,  naval  ou  aéronautique.


Outefois,  la  présente  disposition  ne  porte  aucune
atteinte  au  droit  de  la  France  de  recruter  la  Légion
  étrangèere  Conformément  aux  lois  et  réglements
  militaires  français.

CHAPTTRE  IV.
FORTIFICATILONS.

Article  180.

Tous  les  ouvrages  fortifiés,  forteresses  et  places
fortes  terrestres,  qui  seront  situés  en  territoire  allemand
  à  I’  Ouest  d'’une  ligne  tracée  à  cinquante  kilometres
  à  IEst  du  Rhin,  seront  désarmés  et  démantelés.


Dans  le  déelai  de  deux  mois  à  dater  de  la  mise
en  vigueur  du  présent  Traité,  ceux  des  ouvrages
fortifiés,  forteresses  et  places  fortes  terrestres,  dui
sont  situés  sur  le  territoire  non  occupé  par  les
troupes  allices  et  associéces,  devront  tre  désarmés
et,  dans  un  second  délai  de  quatre  mois,  ils  devront
Stre  démantelés.  Ceux  qui  sont  situés  en  territoire
occupé  par  les  troupes  allices  et  associées  devront
Stre  désarmés  et  démantelés  dans  les  délais  qui

La  construction  de  toute  nouvelle  fortification,
duelles  qu'en  soient  la  nature  ou  l’importance,  est
interdite  dans  la  zone  visce  à  I’alinéa  premier  du
Présent  article.

Le  Systeme  des  ouvrages  fortifiés  des  fronticères
Sud  et  Est  de  I’Allemagne  sera  conservé  dans  son
état  actuel.

The  Allied  and  Associated  Powers  agree,  so
far  as  they  are  concerned,  from  the  coming  into

attach  to  their  armies  or  naval  or  air  forces  any
German  national  for  the  purpose  of  assisting  in
the  military  training  of  such  armies  or  nav#l  or
air  forces,  or  otherwise  to  employ  any  such  German
  national  as  military,  naval  or  aeronautic  instructor.


The  present  provision  does  not,  however,  affect
the  right  of  nee  to  recruit  for  the  Foreign
Legion  in  accordance  with  French  military  laws
and  regulations.

CHAPTER  IV.
FORTIFICATILONS  2

Article  180.

All  fortified  works,  fortresses  and  field  works
situated  in  German  territory  to  the  west  of  a  line
drawn  fifty  kilometres  to  the  east  of  the  Rhine
shall  be  disarmed  and  dismantled.

Within  a  period  of  two  months  from  the
Coming  into  force  of  the  present  Treaty  such  of
the  aore  fortified  works,  fortresses  and  field
works  as  are  situated  in  territory  not  occupied  b
Allied  and  Associated  troops  ball  be  disarmed,
and  within  a  further  period  of  four  months  they
shall  be  dismantled.  Those  which  are  situated  im
territory  occupied  by  Allied  and  Associated  troops
shall  be  disarmed  and  dismantled  within  such  perioce
  as  may  be  fixed  by  the  Allied  High  Command.


The  construction  of  any  new  fortification,
whatever  its  nature  and  importancçe,  is  forbidden
in  the  zone  referred  to  in  the  first  paragraph
above.

The  system  of  fortified  works  of  the  southern
and  eastern  frontiers  of  Germany  shall  be  maintained
  in  its  existing  state.
