Article  281.

Si  le  Gouvernement  allemand  se  livre  au  commerce
  international,  il  n’aura,  à  ce  point  de  vue,
ni  ne  sera  considéré  avoir  aucun  des  droits,  privileges
  et  immunités  de  la  souveraineté.

SECTION  II.
TRAITES.

Article  282.

Des  la  mise  en  vigueur  du  présent  Traité  et
sous  réserve  des  dispositions  qui  y  sont  contenues,
les  traités,  Conventions  et  accords  plurilatéraux,
de  caracteère  économique  ou  technique,  éhumérés
hpres  et  aux  articles  suivants,  seront  seuls
appliqués  entre  I’Allemagne  et  celles  des  Puissances
  allices  et  associées  qui  y  sont  parties:

1°  Conventions  du  14  mars  1884,  du  ler  décembre
  1886  et  du  23  mars  1887  et  Protocole
de  clöture  du  7  juillet  1887,  relatifs  à  la  protection
des  cäbles  sousmarins;

2°  Convention  du  11  octobre  1909,  relative  à  la
circulation  internationale  des  automobiles;

3°  Accord  du  15  mai  1886,  relatif  au  plombage
des  wagons  assujettis  à  la  douane  et  Protocole  du
18  mai  1907;

4%  Accord  du  15  mai  1886,  relatif  à  Tunité
technique  des  chemins  de  fer;

5%  Convention  du  5  juillet  1890,  relative  à  la
publication  des  tarifs  de  douane  et  à  Torganisation
d’une  Union  internationale  pour  la  publication  des
tarifs  douaniers;

6°  Convention  du  31  décembre  1913,  relative  à
PTunification  des  statistiques  commerciales;

7  Convention  du  25  awvril  1907,  relative  à
Pélévation  des  tarifs  douaniers  ottomans;

8°  Convention  du  14  mars  1857,  relative  au
rachat  des  droits  de  péage  du  Sund  et  des  Belts;

9e9  Convention  du  22  juin  1861,  relative  au
rachat  des  droits  de  péage  sur  I’Elbe;

10%  Convention  du  16  juillet  1863,  relative  au
rachat  des  droits  de  péage  sur  I’Escaut;

11°  Convention  du  29  octobre  1888,  relative  à
Tétablissement  d'un  régime  définitif  destiné  à
garantir  le  libre  usage  du  canal  de  Suez;

12  Conventions  du  23  septembre  1910,  relatives
  à  I’unification  de  certaines  regles  en  matière
d’abordage,  d'’assistance  et  de  sauvetage  maritimes;

Article  281.

If  the  German  Government  engages  in  international
  trade,  it  shall  not  in  respect  thereof
have  or  be  deemed  to  have  any  rights,  privileges,
or  immunities  of  sovereignty.

SECTION  II.
TREATIES.

Article  282.

From  the  coming  into  force  of  the  present
Treaty  and  subject  to  the  provisions  thereof  the
multilateral  treaties,  conventions  and  agreements
of  an  economic  or  technical  character  enumerated
below  and  in  the  subsequent  Articles  shall  alone
be  applied  as  between  Germany  and  those  of  the
Allied  and  Asscciated  Powers  party  thereto:

1.  Conventions  of  March  14,  1884,  December  1,
1886,  and  March  23,  1887,  and  Final  Protocol  of
July  7,  1887,  regarding  the  protection  of  submarine
  cables.

2.  Convention  of  October  11,  1909,  regarding
the  international  circulation  of  motor-Ccars.

3.  Agreement  of  May  15,  1886,  regarding  the
sealing  of  railway  trucks  subject  to  customs
inspection,  and  Protocol  of  May  18,  1907.

4.  Agreement  of  May  15,  1886,  regarding  the
technical  standardisation  of  railways.

5.  Convention  of  July  5,  1890,  regarding  the
publication  of  customs  tariffs  and  the  organisation
of  an  International  Union  for  the  publication  of
customs  tariffs.

6.  Convention  of  December  31,  1913,  regarding
the  unification  of  commercial  statistics.

7.  Convention  of  April  25,  1907,  regarding
the  raising  of  the  Turkish  customs  tariff.

8.  Convention  of  March  14,  1857,  for  the  redemption
  of  toll  dues  on  the  Sound  and  Belts.

9.  Convention  of  June  22,  1861,  for  the  redemption
  of  the  Stade  Toll  on  the  Elbe.

10.  Convention  of  July  16,  1863,  for  the  redemption
  of  the  toll  dues  on  the  Scheldit.

11.  Convention  of  October  29,  1888,  regarding
the  establishment  of  a  definite  arrangement
guaranteeing  the  free  use  of  the  Suez  Canal.

12.  Conventions  of  September  23,  1910,  respecting
  the  unification  of  certain  regulations
regarding  collisions  and  salvage  at  sea.
