Toutefois,  cette  remise  en  vigueur  demeure  et
demeurera  sans  effet  vis-à-vis  de  la  France,  du
Portugal  et  de  la  Roumanie.

Article  288.
Les  droits  et  privilsges  spéciaux  accordés  à
I  Allemagne  par  T’article  3  de  la  Convention  du
2  décembre  1899  relative  aux  dlles  Samoa,  seront

considérés  comme  ayant  pris  fin  à  la  date  du
4  acüt  1914.

Article  289.

Chacune  des  Puissances  alliées  ou  asscocices,
s’inspirant  des  princi  généraux  ou  des  stipulations
  particulières  da'  Présent  Traité,  notifieraà
  IAllemagne  les  conventions  bilatéérales  ou  les
traités  bilatéraux,  dont  elle  exigera  la  remise  en
vigueur  avec  elle.

notification  prévue  au  présent  article  sera
faite,  soit  directement,  soit  par  Ientremise  d’une
autre  Puissance.  II  en  sera  accusé  réception  par
éorit  par  I’Allemagne;  la  date  de  la  remise  en
vigueur  sera  celle  de  la  notification.

Les  Puissances  alliéces  ou  associées  s'’engagent
entre  elles  à  ne  remettre  en  vigueur  avec  I’Allemagne
  due  les  conventions  ou  traités  qui  sont
conformes  aux  stipulations  du  présent  Traité.

La  notification  mentionnera  Gventuellement
celles  des  dispositions  de  ces  conventions  ou
traités  qui,  n’'étant  pas  conformes  aux  stipulations
du  présent  Traité,  ne  seront  pas  considérées
comme  remises  en  vigueur.

En  cas  de  divergence  d’avis,  la  Société  des
Nations  sera  appelée  à  se  prononcer.

Un  délai  de  six  mois,  qui  courra  depuis  la  mise
en  vigueur  du  présent  Traité,  est  imparti  aux
Puissances  alliéces  ou  associées  pour  procéder  à  la
notification.

Les  conventions  bilatérales  et  traités  bilatéraux,
  qui  auront  fait  Pobjet  d’une  telle  notification,
  seront  seuls  remis  en  vigueur  entre  les
Puissances  allices  ou  asscciées  et  I’Allemagne;
tous  les  autres  sont  et  demeureront  abrogés.

Les  régles  ci-dessus  sont  applicables  à  toutes
conventions  bilatérales  ou  traités  bilatéraux  existant
  entre  toutes  les  Puissances  alliées  et  associes
  signataires  du  présent  Traité  et  I’Allemagne,
méme  si  lesdites  Puissances  alliéces  et  associces
n’ont  pas  été  en  état  de  guerre  Avec  elle.

Article  290.

L’Allemagne  reconnaft  comme  étant  et  demeurant
  abrogés  par  le  présent  Traité  tous  les  traités,
conventions  ou  accords  qu'elle  a  conclus  avec
I  Autriche,  la  Hongrie,  la  Bulgarie  ou  la  Turquie
depuis  le  ler  acüt  1914  jusqu’'à  la  mise  en  vigueur
du  présent  Traité.

Article  288.

The  special  rights  and  privileges  granted  to
Germany  by  Article  3  of  the  Convention  of  December
  2,  1899,  relating  to  Samoa  shall  be  considered
  to  have  terminated  on  August  4,  1914.

Article  289.

Each  of  the  Allied  or  Associated  Powers,  being
guided  by  the  general  principles  or  special  pro-Visions
  of  the  present  Treaty,  shall  notify  to  Germany
  the  bilateral  treaties  or  conventions  which
such  Allied  or  Asscciated  Power  wishes  to  revive
with  Germany.

The  notification  referred  to  in  the  present
article  shall  be  made  either  directly  or  through.
the  intermediary  of  another  Power.  Receipt  thereof
shall  be  acknowledged  in  writing  by  Germany.
The  date  of  the  revival  shall  be  that  of  the  notification.


The  Allied  and  Asscciated  Powers  undertake
among  themselves  not  to  revive  with  Germany
any  conventions  or  treaties  wbich  are  not  in
accordance  with  the  terms  of  the  Present  Treatp.

The  notification  shall  mention  any  provisions
of  the  said  conventions  and  treaties  which,  not
being  in  accordance  with  the  terms  of  the  present
Treaty,  shall  not  be  considered  as  revived.

In  case  of  any  difference  of  opinion,  the  Leaof
  Nations  will  be  called  on  Edecige.  aguo

A  period  of  six  months  from  the  coming  into
force  of  the  present  Treaty  is  allowed  to  the
Allied  and  Associated  Powers  within  which  to
make  the  notification.

Only  those  bilateral  treaties  and  conventions
which  have  been  the  subject  of  such  a  notification
shall  be  revived  between  the  Allied  and  Associated
  Powers  and  Germany;  all  the  others  are
and  shall  remain  abrogated.

The  above  regulations  apply  to  all  bilateral

treaties  or  conventions  existing  between  all  the

Allied  and  Asscciated  Powers  signatories  to  the
Present  Treaty  and  Germany,  even  if  the  said
Allied  and  Asscciated  Powers  have  not  been  in  a
state  of  war  with  Germany.

Article  290.

Germany  recognizes  that.  all  the  treaties,  conventions
  or  agreements  which  she  has  concluded
with  Austria,  Hungary,  Bulgaria  or  Turkey  since
August  1,  1914,  until  the  coming  into  force  of
the  present  Treaty  are  and  remain  abrogated  by
the  present  Treaty.
