  ou  en  provenance  des  ports  des  Puissances
alliékes  et  associées,  et  qdui  aurait  pour  elfet
d’entraver  ou  de  retarder  ces  services.

Article  369.

En  cas  de  transport,  partie  par  chemin  de  fer
et  partie  par  navigation  intérieure,  avec  ou  sans
lettre  de  voiture  directe,  les  stipulations  dui  précedent
  seront  applicables  à  la  partie  du  trajet
effeotuce  par  chemin  de  fer.

CHAPTTRE  II.
MATERIEL  ROULANT.

Article  370.

L'Allemagne  sengage  àce  due  les  wagons  allemands
  soient  munis  de  dispositifs  permettant:

1°  de  les  introduire  dans  les  trains  de  marchandises
  circulant  sur  les  lignes  de  celles  des  Puissances
allices  et  associées  qui  sont  parties  à  la  Convention
de  Berne  du  15  mai  1886,  modifiée  le  18  mai  1907,
sans  entraver  le  fonctionnement  du  frein  continu
qui  pourrait,  dans  les  dix  ams  qui  suivront  la  mise
en  vigueur  du  présent  Traité,  étre  adopté  dans

ces  #  Z

2•°  d’introduire  les  wagons  de  ces  Puissances
dans  tous  les  trains  de  marchandises  circulant  sur
les  lignes  allemands.

Le  matériel  roulant  des  Puissances  allices  et
associées  jouira,  sur  les  lignes  allemandes,  du  meme
traitement  que  le  matériel  allemand  en  ce  qdui  concerne
  la  circulation,  I’entretien  et  les  réparations.

CHAPTTRE  III.
CESS1LON  DE  LIGNES  DE  CHEMINS  DE  FEB.

Article  371.

Sous  réserve  de  stipulations  particulières,  relatives
  à  la  cession  des  ports,  voies  d’eau  et  voies
ferrées  situés  dans  les  territoires  sur  lesquels  I’Allemagne
  cêde  sa  souveraineté,  ainsi  due  des  dispositions
  financières  concernant  les  concessionnaires
et  le  service  des  pensions  de  retraite  du  personnel,
la  cession  des  voies  ferrées  aura  lieu  dans  les  conditions
  suivantes:

1%  Les  ouvrages  et  installations  de  toutes  les
voies  ferrées  seront  livrés  au  complet  et  en  bon
état.

2°  Lorsqu’un  réseau  ayant  un  matériel  roulant
àlui  propre  sera  Cédé6  en  entier  par  1°Allemagne  à
une  des  Puissances  alliées  et  associées,  ce  matériel
sera  remis  au  complet,  d’aprèes  le  dernier  inventaire
  au  11  novembre  1918,  et  en  état  normal
d’entretien.

3°  Pour  les  lignes  n’ayant  pas  un  matériel  roulant
  spécial,  la  fraction  à  livrer  du  matériel  existant
sur  le  réseau,  auquel  ces  lignes  appartiennent,  sera

measures  of  customs  examination,  general  police,
sanitary  police,  and  control,  the  result  of  which
would  be  to  impede  or  delay  such  services.

Article  369.

In  case  of  transport  partly  by  rail  and  partly
by  internal  navigation,  with  or  without  through
way-bill,  the  preceding  Articles  shall  apply  to
the  part  of  the  journey  performed  by  rail.

CHAPTER  IH.
ROLLING-STOCK.

Article  370.

Germany  undertakes  that  German  wagons
shall  be  fitted  with  apparatus  allowing:

(1)  of  their  inclusion  in  goods  trains  on  the
lines  of  such  of  the  Allied  and  Associated  Powers
as  are  parties  to  the  Berne  Convention  of  May  15,
1886,  as  modified  on  May  18,  1907,  without  ham-Pering
  the  action  of  the  continuous  brake  which
may  be  adopted  in  such  countries  within  ten
vears  of  the  coming  into  force  of  the  present
Treaty  and

(2)  of  the  acceptance  of  wagons  of  such  countries
  in  all  goods  trains  on  the  German  lines.

The  rolling  stock  of  the  Allied  and  Associated
Powers  shall  enjoy  on  the  German  lines  the  same
treatment  as  German  rolling  stock  as  regardes
movement,  upkeep  and  repairs.

CHAPTER  III.
CESSTONS  OF  RAIIWAY  LINES.

Article  371.

Subject  to  any  special  provisions  concerning
the  cession  of  ports,  waterways  and  railways  situated
  in  the  territories  over  which  Germany
abandons  her  sovereignty,  and  to  the  financial
conditions  relating  to  the  concessionnaires  and
the  pensioning  of  the  personnel,  the  cession  of
railways  will  take  place  under  the  following  conditions:


1.  The  works  and  installations  of  all  the  railroads
  shall  be  handed  over  complete  and  in  good
condition.  ç

2.  When  a  railway  system,  possessing  its  own
rolling-stock,  is  handed  over  in  its  entirety  by
Germany  to  one  of  the  Alled  and  Agsscciated
Powers,  such  stock  shall  be  handed  over  comlete,
  in  accordance  with  the  last  inventory  before
Koenber  11,  1918,  and  in  a  normal  state  of
