vernment by speaking“.

reserved for this Parliament and this House of Commons the double
honour of reconciling Ireland and emancipating itself. ÜARsoNn: a
more ridiculous or fantastic proposal has never been put before this or
any other Parliament .. We believe it to be a fatal bill for our own
country (Irland) and an equally fatal bill for yours, and, above all things-
we believe it to be involved in the greatest series of dishonourable trans-
actions that have ever disgraced any country. REDMOND: this bill will be
submitted to an Irish National Convention, and I shall without hesitation
recommend to that convention the acceptance of this bill).
11. April. Kundgebungen der Staatsmänner aller Kolonien für Home
Rule in der liberalen Presse (u. a. Botha, Smuts, Laurier, Fisher, Deakin).

liament consisting of the Queen, Lords and Commons of Ireland; that all
Imperial affairs and all those relating to the Colonies, foreign States, and
the common interest of the Empire shall continue to be regulated by the
Imperial Parliament. The idea at the bottom of the proposal is the desir-
ability of finding some mıddle course between separation on the one hand
and over-centralisation of government on the other. Wiederholt aus einer
Rede Redmond’s zur Home Rule Bill 1886. Bonar LAw: you will never
carry this bill without submitting it to the judgment of thepeople. AsquıITH).
9. Mai. Annahme in 2. Lesung mit 101 Stimmen Mehrheit (372
gegen 271).

Hauses. Antrag Agar-Robartes auf Ausschluß von Nordost-Ulster aus der
Home Rule Bill, abgelehnt am 18. Juni mit nur 69 Stimmen Mehrheit, so

geblieben wäre.
