der Allierten.“ Amendment GInNNELL zur Motion Dalziel „that this House,
having legislated for Ireland during the last 116 years with callous tyranny,
part of which, that of excessive taxation, was revealed by the finding of
the Royal Commission that Ireland had been excessively taxed to the ex-
tend of £ 2 750 000 per year, creating a debt of over £ 400000000 now
due by this country to Ireland, common honesty and the inalienable rights
of the Irish nation demand that we pay this debt forthwith and leave
Ireland in absolute and exclusive control of herself, her own property, and
her own affairs.“
26. April.

stantial agreement should be reached as to the character and scope of the
Constitution framed by the Convention for the future government of Ire-
land within the Empire, they will accept the responsibility for taking all the
neccessary steps to enable the Imperial Parliament to give legislatiwe
effect to the conclusions of the Convention.“ REDMOND und CARSON er-
klären ibr Einverständnis; Ginnell lehnt für Sinn Fein ab: the only Con-
ference that Ireland is interested in is the International Peace Conference
to follow the war.

23. Oktober. Unterhausdebatte über die irische Verwaltung. Tadels-
antrag Redmond „that this House deplores the policy which has been pur-
sued and is being pursued by the Irish Executive Government and the Irish
military authorities at a time when the highest interests of Ireland and
the Empire demand the creation of an atmosphere favourable to a suc-
cessful result of the deliberations of the Irish Convention.“ Staatssekretär
„There is a
good deal of talk in Ireland among the Sinn Fein leaders which does not
mean Home Rule. It does not mean Self-government. It means complete
separation and secession. The expression used is „sovereign independency.“
