verneur der Fidschiinseln (Suva) hat einen
Ministerrat mit vier und einen gesetzgebenden Rat
von zwölf Mitgliedern zur Seite. Ihm unter-
stehen die Residentkommissare der Rotumainsel,
von Colo West und Colo North; als Oberkom-
missar der westlichen Südsee sind ihm auch die
Johnston-, Fanning-, Christmas-, Malden-,
Starbuck-, Suwarow-, Phönix-, Gilbert-, Ellice-,
Salomons= und Santa Cruz-Inseln unterstellt.—
Die Tonga-(Freundschafts-)IInseln kamen 1899
unter britische Herrschaft. Sie bilden ein konsti-
tutionelles Königreich mit einer gesetzgebenden Ver-
sammlung von 31 Mitgliedern, die zur Hälfte aus
dem Erbadel und zur Hälfte aus dem Volke ge-
wählt wird.
