PARTIE XIV.
GARANTIES D’ENECUTITOTN.
SECTLON I.
EUROPE OCCIDENTALE.
Article 428.
titre de garantie d'’exécution par I Allemagne
du présent Traité, les territoires allemands situés
à l’'ouest du Rhin, ensemble les tötes de pont,
seront occupés par les troupes des Puissances alliées
et associées pendant une période de quinze années,
à compter de la mise en vigueur du présent Traité.
Article 429.
Si les conditions du présent Traité sont fidelement
observées par I°Allemagne, lroccupation. Prévue
à L’article 428 sera successivement réduite ainsi
qdu’il est dit ci-apres: "
1°Al’expiration de cind annéCes, seront éCvacués:
la teéte de pont de Cologne et les territoires situés
au Nord d’une ligne suivant le cours de la Ruhr,
puis la voie ferrée Jülich-Duren-Euskirchen-Rheinbach,
ensuite la route de Rheinbach à Sinzig, et
gagnant le Rhin au confluent de l'Ahr (les routes,
voies ferrées et localités ci-dessus mentionnées restant
en dehors de ladite zone d’évacuation).
2° A expiration de dix années, seront évacués:
la töte de pont de Coblenz et les territoires situés
au Nord d’une ligne partant de l’intersection des
frontières de Belgique, d’Allemagne et des Pays-Bas,
suivant à environ 4 kilometres au Sud d’'Aixla-Chapelle,
atteignant et suivant ensuite la créte
de Forst Gemünd, puis I’Est de la voie ferrée de
la vallée de 1'Urft, puis les abords de Blankenheim,
Valdorf, Dreis, Ulmen jusqu'à la Moselle, suivant
ce fleuve depuis Bremm jusqu'à Nehren, passant
aux abords de Kappel et de Simmern, suivant
ensuite le fafte des hauteurs entre Simmern et le
Rhin, et gagnant ce fleuve à Bacharach (toutes
les localités, vallées, routes et voies ferrées cidessus
mentionnées restant en dehors de la zone
d’éwvacuation).
3°“ A Uexpiration de quinze anné6es, seront
évacués: la téte de pont de Mayence, la téte de
pont de Kehl et le restant des territories allemands
occupés.
PART XIV.
GUARANTEES.
SECTILON I.
WESTERN EUROEE.
Article 428.
As a guarantee for the execution of the present
Treaty by Germany, the German territory situated
to the west of the Rhine, together with
bridgeheads, will be occupied by Allied and
Associated troops for a period of fifteen Fears
from the coming into force of the present Treaty.
Article 429.
If the conditions of the present Treaty are
faithfully carried out by Germany, the occupation
referred to in Article 428 will be successively
restricted as follows:
(1) At the expiration of five Fears there will
be evacuated: the bridgehead of Cologne and
the territories north of a line running along the
Ruhr, then along the railway Jülich, Duren, Euskirchen,
Rheinbach, thence along the road Rheinbach
to Sinzig, and reaching the Rbine at the
confluence with the Abr; the roads, railways and
places mentioned above being excluded from the
area evacuated.
(2) At the expiration of ten Fears there will
be evacuated: the bridgehead of Coblenz and
the territories north of a line to be drawn from
the intersection between the frontiers of Belgium,
Germany and Holland, running about 4 kilometres
south of Aix-la-Chapelle, then to and following
the crest of Forst Gemünd, then east of the railway
of the Urft Valley, then along Blankenbeim,
Valdorf, Dreis, Ulmen to and following the Moselle
from Bremm to Nehren, then passing by
Kappel and Simmern, then following the ridge of
the heights between Simmern and the Rhine and
reaching this river at Bacharach; all the places,
valleys, roads and railways mentioned above being
excluded from the area evacuated.
(3) At the expiration of fifteen years there
will be evacuated: the bridgehead of Mainz, the
bridgehead of Kehl and the remainder of the
Geiman territory under occupation.
